XBMC Foundation is a no-profit organization from the USA. The XBMC Media Center has been renamed as Kodi and now it’s #1 media player globally. Developers regularly working for the betterment of Kodi. Recently, they have released the beta version of Kodi 18.0 Leia. So, in this guide, you are going to learn the step by step process to install Kodi 18.0 (Leia) on Windows 10.
Kodi 18.0 (Leia) Beta Version
The first beta testing of Kodi Leia 18.0 was done in December 2017 but later it removed from the official website due to lots of bugs. Again, the second beta version was released in August 2018 and people are testing it. Many changelogs have been done in the latest version of Kodi Leia 18.0.
Kodi 17.6 is the most stable version available in the market. Still, Kodi is offering 17.6 Krypton to their users while Kodi 18.0 is released in the back-end for the beta testing. People are reporting the bugs and developers fixing it.
I was testing Kodi v18.0 (Leia) on my Windows 10 from the last three weeks. Now, I’m writing about my experience with this beta version. Many changes have been done in Kodi 18.0 (Beta). Here, I’ve written about 5 important visual changes in Kodi 18 Leia.

How to Install Kodi 18.0 Leia (Beta) on Windows 10
There are multiple methods to install Kodi Leia 18.0 on Windows 10. I’m showing two different methods to install it on Windows PC-
Method- 1: Install Kodi 18.0 via setup file
This is the easiest method to install Kodi 18 on Windows 10 PC. All you need to do is, remove existing Kodi from your PC and delete all associated folders for the better experience with the new version. So, here I’m going to divide this tutorial into two segments.
The first segment is about removing Kodi and it’s associated folder and then we’ll install Kodi 18.0 Leia on Windows PC.
Part:1- How to remove Kodi 17.6 on Windows 10?
Follow these steps to uninstall Kodi 17.6 from Windows 10 PC-
Step-1: Go to Control Panel
First of all, press the Windows button on your PC keyboard. Now type control panel in the search box. Then open Control Panel. Else, you can ask Cortana to open Control Panel directly.
Step-2: Click on Uninstall a Program
Below the Programs option, there is an option to Uninstall a Program. Click on that…
Step-3: Double-Click on Kodi
From the list of all your installed programs, you have to double click on Kodi. It will prompt new windows containing uninstall wizard.
Step-4: Click on Next
Here you’ll see Kodi Uninstall wizard appearing on your desktop screen. Click on the Next button to continue to uninstall Kodi 17.6.
Step-5: Again click on Next
You’ll have the install folder. It will ask your permission to uninstall Kodi from the Program Files.
Step-6: Click on Uninstall
There is an option to delete all the associated folder of Kodi. Check this option “Yes, I am sure and grant permission to also delete the profile folder”. Then hit the Uninstall button.
As soon as you click the Uninstall button, Windows will start removing Kodi 17.6 from your device. Just wait for few seconds to finish the process.
Part:2- How to install Kodi 18.0 (Leia) on Windows 10?
Now, we are going to start the installation process of Kodi 18.0 on Windows 10. Follow these steps-
Step-1: Download Kodi 18.0 (Leia)
As I told earlier, Kodi 18.0 (Leia) is under beta testing. Still, recommended using Kodi 17.6 (Krypton) until a stable version released. Though, you can download the Kodi 18.0 beta version from the official website of Kodi.
Go to this link and choose Windows from the OS list- https://kodi.tv/download
Step-2: Go to Pre-release
Instead of downloading the recommended version, go to the pre-release section of Kodi website. As you can see that, XBMC developers still recommending Kodi v17.6 “Krypton” by default because beta version could contain bugs and error.
Step-3: Choose the 64bit installer
Click on the 64bit installer of Kodi v18 “Leia” Beta 2. Once you click on that, a file will start downloading.
Step-4: Wait… Setup is downloading
As you can see that, a setup file is downloading in your browser. Now, wait… It can take 1 minute to download (depending upon your internet speed).
Step-5: Double click on the setup file
Go to download folder and double-click on the Kodi-18.0-Leia_beta2-x64.exe file to being the installation.
Step-6: Click Next
A Kodi Setup Wizard is appearing on your screen. Click on the Next button as shown below.
Step-7: Agree to license
You must have to agree with XBMC license in order to use Kodi. Click on “I Agree”
Step-8: Click Next
Choose all the Kodi components you want to install and then click on Next button.
Step-9: Click Install
Wait… All the Kodi components are being installed on your Windows 10 device.
Check “Run Kodi” box and then hit finish button. Kodi 18.0 will be launched on your device.
I understand this tutorial has gone quite long. But, I’ve explained everything clearly. Now, you can also install Kodi 18.0 Leia on Windows 10 PC.
